HIllsborough County offices closed for Memorial Day

Tampa, Florida--If you need to do business with Hillsborough County keep in mind all county offices in downtown will be closed Monday May 27th in honor of Memorial Day.

In addition to the County Offices being closed, all the Constitutional Offices- including the Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Tax Collector and the Clerk of Courts Offices- will be closed as well.

The charm and historic design of OHPV have always attracted the well-heeled from south Tampa, but it continues to struggle to find its identity against other retail complexes, so now, a new owner will take charge and that could bring great things.

Indian dance fundraiser for BRIDGE Clinic

Tampa, Florida- Shreyas- An Expression of Dance will be presenting Dashavataram, a Bharatha Natyam Dance Ballet, on Saturday June 1, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Sickles High School in Tampa.

The net proceeds of this production will be donated to the BRIDGE Clinic, a free, student-run clinic affiliated with USF Health. Bharatha Natyam is the ancient dance form of India that brings poetry to life.

Third-grade FCAT math and reading scores static

Tallahassee, Florida - This year's FCAT results are out for reading, math and writing and they show improvements in writing and little change in math and reading.

In third grade reading, 57 percent of students scored a three or higher on a five-point scale and are considered proficient readers. That's up one percent from last year.

UPDATE: Police looking for hit and run vehicle

Tampa, Florida -- Police are still looking for a truck that hit a man riding a bicycle and did not stop.

On May 23, around 7:39 a.m., Freddie Alonso was riding a bicycle southbound on Tampania Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign on West Lemon Street and was struck by a pickup truck.

Alonso was thrown from his bike and the driver fled without stopping. Alonso was transported to Tampa General Hospital and is in critical condition with a head injury.

Late on May 23, Freddie Alonso died as a result of his injuries from the hit and run.

AAA offers "Tow To Go" service Memorial Day weekend

Tampa Bay, Florida-- It's hard to imagine why one would risk getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, but AAA's "To to Go" program makes it that much harder.

According to AAA's website, "To to Go" offers intoxicated drivers a free, confidential ride to a safe place within a 10 mile radius, along with a free tow for their car.
