Auditions for Kiss Me Kate on Friday | Arts & Culture

Kiss Me, Kate, the Tony-award winning Cole Porter musical set in the 1940s, will be presented by Patel Conservatory Youth Theater Productions in November, and the Conservatory will audition potential cast members this Friday, Aug. 31 at 5 p.m.

Auditions are open to those in grades seven through college.

Kiss Me, Kate will be performed - with a live Patel Conservatory orchestra! - Nov. 8-10 and 15-17 in the TECO Theater at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts.

This show, popular worldwide, is a play-within-a-play where each cast member’s in-stage life is complicated by what is happening offstage. Musical numbers include “Wunderbar,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Brush up Your Shakespeare,” “I Hate Men,” “Always True to You (In My Fashion)” and “Another Op’nin, Another Show.”

Rehearsals for Kiss Me, Kate will start Sept. 4 and will be held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 5 to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m.
