PAL Campers challenged Tampa Bay Storm, kicked off fundraiser | Community Spirit
Tampa, Florida-- Tampa Bay Police Athletic League (PAL) campers played Tampa Bay Storm athletes in dodgeball this afternoon as a part of a promotion for the Dogeball For a Cause Tournament scheduled for July 14.
Tampa Police tells us a group of 11 to 13 year didn't dodge the opportunity to attempt to defeat Tampa Bay Storm players in friendly game of dodgeball.
The match served as a starting point for the 3rd Annual Dodgeball For A Cause Tournament, which benefits the law enforcement community.
According to TPD, this is the first year that proceeds from the tournament will go to the Tampa Police Athletic League (PAL) to help the non-profit organization, which primarily serves children in low income and single parent household year-round. .
The Dodgeball For A Cause Tournament will take place on July 14 at the Tampa Bay Times Forum from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is open to the public and teams can enter the competition online at www.TampaBayNeedsMe.org.
TPD reports that Clear Channel Media & Entertainment Group, Tampa Bay Storm and Tampa Bay Times Forum worked together to host this event in 2010 after the tragic loss of Tampa Police Officers David Curtis and Jeff Kocab.
Since then the event has raised over $40,000 for the families of fallen law enforcement officers throughout the Bay Area.
