Donation results from Thanksgiving blood drive | Community Spirit

Hillsborough County, FL -- The week before Thanksgiving, Florida Blood Services’ (FBS) donors were told they could decline their personal thank you gift and have a $5 donation made to their local food bank instead. 

Donors were also told they could drop off non-perishable food items at any of the Donor Center locations to provide additional support to those who are hungry. To help add to the donation, FBS chose not to send out Holiday cards.

In total, blood donors in Hillsborough County donated $3,000 and 260 pounds of food, along with 386 blood donations. FBS reported total donations from seven counties at $9,500 and 1,412 pounds of food.
