Bartow, Florida -- The Florida Department of Health is advising private well owners affected by flood waters to take precautions against disease-causing organisms that may make their water unsafe to drink.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Health Department offers free STD and HIV testing on Friday, June 29, in Recognition of National HIV Testing Day.

The Health Department encourages Hillsborough County residents to visit their downtown location, 1105 E. Kennedy Blvd. Tampa 33605, on Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. to get tested and take part in the promotion of one's physical health.

Health Advisory issued for Ben T. Davis Beach

Hillsborough County, Florida-- A Health Advisory has been issued for Ben T. Davis, (South) beach based on the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA.

This should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public.

According to the Health Department, samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria. The beach will be re-sampled Monday, June 25, 2012.

The Health Department state that when re-sampling indicates the water is within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.

Tampa, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Health Department has issued  a health advisory for Ben T. Davis South and Davis Island beaches due to high levels of enterococci bacteria.

The department says the levels of bacteria should be considered a potential risk to swimmers.

The samples were taken on Monday and will be re-sampled Monday, June 12. If the water is found to be within the satisfactory range, the advisory will be lifted.

Tampa, Florida-- Here's an idea that will help parents of sick kids feel much better:

Tampa General Hospital on Davis Islands in South Tampa offers KIDCare daycare where parents of kids who are sick (earache, stomach bug, etc.) can drop off their kids, ages 2 months to 15 years old, while they go to work.

You must make reservations no more than 24 hours in advance. It is first come, first serve. You can call: 813-844-7192.

KIDCare daycare program at TGH is offered from 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost is $5.00 an hour.

Tampa, FL -- MedExpress Urgent Care is offering free flu shots to children at all locations from Nov. 1 - 14.

All children in grades K through 12 (ages 4 to 18) are eligible.

According to The Center for Disease Control (CDC), a yearly vaccine is the first and most important step in protecting against flu viruses. The CDC states young children are more susceptible to the flu and recommends everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine. This year’s vaccine can help prevent against the three main flu viruses (H3N2, Influenza B and H1N1).
