Early voting in Hillsborough begins today

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The commercials have flooded your televisions and radios, and the time for Hillsborough residents to vote in the 2012 Primary Election is upon us. 

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections has announced that early voting for the county kicked off today, allowing eligible voters to cast their ballot at an of the 15 approved Early Voting Sites. 

In a Florida Primary Election, voters must be registered with a political party to vote for their party's candidates.

Hillsborough County, Florida--  Earl Lennard, Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, announced the delivery of 65,186 domestic Vote By Mail Ballots to the post office yesterday, July 16, 2012. 

Any registered voter may request, receive and cast a Vote By Mail Ballot, as long as the delivery of a Primary Election ballot is requested by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2012.

Tampa, FL - Earl Lennard, the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, announced the delivery of 2,622 military and overseas Vote By Mail Ballots to the post office on Friday.

Military and overseas voters can request a Vote By Mail Ballot by mail, fax or e-mail.

The Supervisor of Elections office says the easiest way to request a Vote By Mail Ballot is to log on to www.VoteHillsborough.org, and click on the Vote By Mail tab at the top.

Hillsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections tweeted a notice that new voter registration cards are on the way to all registered voters.

"Plz RT: You've got mail! We 're sending new voter info cards to all Hillsborough Co registered voters. Mailing to take approx. 1 wk."

Tampa, Florida -- Hillsborough County Commissioners are tossing in the towel in their legal fight against former County Administrator Pat Bean, but it's the taxpayers that are going to take it on the chin to the tune of more than half a million dollars. 

The county lost in court, fighting the decision to pay, but now they've decided not to appeal and will pay her the money, lots of money.

Tampa, Fla. -- There is a major reorganization government in downtown Tampa. Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn says it will save taxpayers $425,000.

According to a news release from the Mayor's office:

Bob McDonaugh has been named the Administrator for Economic Opportunity. The new Administrator for Economic Opportunity will focus on attracting new businesses to Tampa, help grow entrepreneurship, and grow and retain our existing businesses.
